Every time we feel tired after the camp, there is just one place to go... Padre Burgos, Quezon. I have been there several times but I never grew tired of coming back. It's always been a good place to "re-charge"... sand, clear water, virgin beaches, good food, hospitable people.... what else can you ask for!
We are always very thankful to our friend and co-volunteer, Fr. Andrew Hernandez (I call him Padre), for sharing his time to come (or arrange a trip) with us to Padre Burgos.
Last April 19 - 20, 2008 we went to relax there. Though Padre was not able to join us due to his busy schedule, he managed to properly endorse us to Cyrus, a local friend of ours. With Cyrus and his family around, you will definitely have a nice vacation.
We went to the place together with the staff members and some volunteers of Camp Journey 2008. Ate Guada and myself left Manila at around 2:30 PM. We grew tired of waiting for the other people to come. We met with Padre at around 6 PM in Lucena. After a couple of hours, the rest of the delegates arrived.
We left early morning of the following day for Padre Burgos, which is more than an hour ride from Lucena City. It was really a fun day for all of us. We did a lot of activities and even with a short notice, Cyrus and his family were able to prepare good food... adobong pusit, pritong isda, itlog na maalat, adobong baboy, inihaw na talong.... food was simply great!!!
We had a really wonderful time in Padre Burgos. I just can't wait to go back there and spend more time just... RELAXING!
